Dental Implant Glossary Cerebral Palsy   CP is a neurologic condition caused by oxygen deficiency at some time during the                              development of a baby.  A wide variation in the level of affliction is seen, although the condition is                              characterized by poor control of motor movements and overcontracted muscles.  The more                              severely afflicted CP patients often have excessive saliva, excessive calculus, and thankfully                               very few problems with cavities.  We find more gum care necessary for these patients than might                               be expected, as some of their medications also contribute to gum problems.
